Time Well Spent

Last week I met with a potential new client who reminded me exactly why I do this work.
It was a non-profit I feel quite passionate about – I even volunteer with them. Their mission in the world of education is incredible and inspiring. We talked about their goals and how I might help amplify their voice. I left feeling energized and enthusiastic.
Today I heard back that they don’t currently have budget for marketing. I completely understand – and if circumstances were different, I would absolutely take them on pro bono.
The email ended with:
“I apologize if I wasted your time.”
I didn’t hesitate before responding:
It is never a waste of time to meet passionate people and learn about meaningful work.
And I meant it, wholeheartedly.
Not every conversation turns into a client relationship – and that’s okay. Every meeting, every encounter, every discussion brings insight, perspective, and inspiration.
No, meeting with you was not a waste of time.
It was time very well spent.
